Many user errors in negative reviews, Enclosure works fine
Some reviewers seem to not know a fresh NVME needs to be formatted via a direct install on a mobo BEFORE you put it in the enclosure. Yes, this is somewhat annoying & IMO, bad design, but it's common across all of these enclosures as far as I've seen. Some negative reviewers also don't seem to know Gb (gigabits) and GB (gigabytes) are different. A byte is 8 bits, so the actual theoretical max speed (if you plug it into the correct USB slot & have a compatible cable & read from a drive as fast or faster than the USB connection, errors some reviewers are also making) is 1250 MB/s.USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 has a theoretical cap of 10Gbps (aka 1250 MB/s), that is what the drive is using, but you need to plug it into a USB 3.2 gen2x1 port. There is also a 3.2 gen1x1 port that is half the bandwidth and a very uncommon 3.2 gen2x2 port that is double the bandwidth (20Gbps).Some people are plugging this into 3.2 gen1x1 or even USB 3.0 or 3.1 ports & getting much lower speeds. User error.Real world, you won't see 1250 MBps anyway though due to oddities of software in the way USB is implemented in the board & the OS. The file structure you're transferring also matters. Many small files will not transfer anywhere close to that.It also matters what drive you're transferring from. From a HDD platter drive or an SD card, these will bottleneck you. An old style 2.5" SSD might even bottleneck you.Best case I see around 900-950 MBps on large single files, which is solid. All I really use mine for is to unload files off my phone since every manufacturer decided to milk the customer for storage space ($200 for +256GB... madness, I can buy a 256GB nvme for like $20) instead of just putting 1TB standard on a flagship phone like it obviously should be especially with 50+ MP and 4k cameras.

Best of the best so far.
I have purchased (and returned) 5 other brands of external nvme m.2 enclosures. This is the only one that, right out of the box did exactly as it was supposed to do. It stayed connected through everything I threw at it. The encasement is well built and made to last and it comes with 2 sturdy and thick USB C to C and USB to USB C cables. You open it by using the same little tool you would use to get a sim card out of a phone. Once your stick is slotted and screwed into place you put the cover back on and it snaps into place and it is secure. It has RGB effects on a small portion at the top, which does not bother me but unfortunately the only info I could find to turn of that effect was to download Armoury Crate :( That may not be the case but from the brief searches I performed that was the only way I could find. Overall it was great to just get something that does what it is supposed to without having to spend 2 hours on Reddit and other forums trying to figure out why something does not work.

Love it! High quality
I purchased this case for my SSD, because a previous purchase of a different brands case failed to work properly with PlayStation. I was going to purchase this Asus Rog Strix case before I bought the off brand, but was lured in by the claims of 40gbps speeds. Lesson learned now! The Asus case is top quality with a small footprint, comes with premium charging cords, nice thermal pads, and clip to secure it to a backpack or whatever you want. Has nice color changing lights if that’s your thing(Aura sync). It was plug and play. The only thing I didn’t care for was the pin key to unlock the cover. It’s tiny, and can easily be lost or misplaced. Overall this is the best SSD portable case I’ve owned out of the three others I have.

Awesome speeds!
This enclosure worked great for cloning my 512GB SSD to my 1TB SSD! The cloning process only took 10 minutes with this enclosure and the cables that came with it.PS. If you need cloning software, download Macrium(It’s free for 30 days and you don’t need a CC)
