I love, love, love this kettle. Everything it says, it does. Fill it, plug it in and in a minute or so, a full pot of boiling water. It is actually beautiful with a blue light and the bubbling water, so I set up a beverage station! Oh yes, kettle, a drip coffee maker, a tray of all kinds of teas, cups, spoons, napkins, and a coffee cake. My boyfriend is ill, and we have home care nurses coming and going. Every time they need a break, since the water stays hot, they can just pour themselves a cup of tea. Nobody else does this for them! This kettle is great to own and it makes such a nice gift.

Boils fast. I also like that it has a blue light while boiling so my littles know when it’s getting hot.

Works great for coffee pour over make and boils 1.7L water in about 5 minutes at our 9,600ft elevation. Cleaning with Scotch Brite green pads to remove mineral deposits left behind on stainless steel bottom plate after boiling water.

My sister purchased this kettle. I immediately love the look of it with the blue light to indicate power on and automatic turn off great item. I would definitely purchase for a gift.

Dangerous!I ordered one to replace an older, very dependable model whose base stopped making electrical contact with the boiler. It performed for over 10 years at 100% before that failure. I was sorry to see it go.The replacement dribbled boiling water around the too loose fitting lid, so I returned it for a replacement. Lo and behold, the replacement dribbled, too, scarcely missing my feet as I poured.This model evidently has many identical complaints lodged against it. I don't know that I'll be giving it another shot for fear of actually being burned and spending time, effort and fuel to return it.Update: After contacting the manufacturer twice on their site without a response other than wait two weeks for a response, I think a dangerous product report to the CPSC might be a next step.A further update: The Hamilton Beach customer service rep says that the unit qualifies for factory replacement and to just send $14.99 for shipping and handling before they send it. My reply: Just send me a refund instead of essentially selling me a reduced price replacement.We'll see how that turns out.April 21 update. It hasn't turned out well. The people with whom I have been corresponding are not Hamilton Beach reps, they're a third party warranty service that keeps customers an arm's length from the company, a layer of insulation that charges a fee to the customer for warranted replacements.Nice work, Hamilton Beach. You've lost another customer.

We like everything about the new 1.7 L unit, especially the larger capacity and wider mouth than the smaller model for pouring in cold water. We learned that we have to plug it directly into a grounded kitchen wall socket - with no adapter - to avoid loud popping noises while the unit starts warming up the water, but that probably can be chalked up to iffy wiring in this nearly century-old house. Excellent kettle, well designed and extremely efficient at boiling water quickly.

Other reviewer received defective merchandise twice in a row. Maybe they cleaned up their act since then.I had a 1 liter Hamilton Beach kettle that satisfied my purposes. I had no record of exactly how long I had it -- it did not come from Amazon. The power base has a contact that bends and flexes every time the kettle is placed and removed. Over time it stopped flexing properly. Buying this unit on prime was a better deal than replacing the part. The old unit works on the new power base. I am highly satisfied.
