I bought this item last month. Refurbished? That is a no. Arrived broken inside the crank assembly. Making it pretty much impossible for any damage to have occurred during shipping. As mentioned in another revue, I now realize that I did see a machine very much like this one in my gym. It was always being worked on and after they would repair it, it would start "clunking" again just like my refurbished one does (right out of the box). Impossible to return. That is my fault for not thinking of that when I bought it. It looks like I will have to eat the $400 cost. I will not foist this machine onto someone else by selling it or even giving it away. It is going where it belongs, the scrap yard.

It looks like the type I use at the gym I have never been on the Epic A17R I hope I am not disappointed once I get it and start using it.

Amazing Bike! The other reviewers who have been giving bad ratings are obviously not familiar with exercise equipment. It has been one of the most sturdy and reliable bikes I have ever owned and used. Being a very athletic person, and having bought this bike for sports training purposes, I have really put this bike through some heavy use, and it has worked perfectly. The resistance is super smooth, and the bike itself has very quiet operation. The monitor works beautifully and it has all of the features of a top of the line gym quality bike and more. I especially like the i fit live and training, competition features. The walk through feature also came very much in handy. After having a sports injury recently, I became unable to lift my right knee very far. Doctors orders were that for recovery I should use an exercise bike. I'm so glad that mine had this walk through feature as I can just sit down to use it, rather than having to lift my legs over the middle section. I will say again, it is an amazing bike and I am very pleased with my purchase.

From the very beginning the LCD screen would flutter a dim light that is not noticeable by day, but is in the darkness. The resistance setting would always start much more difficult than expected at level one and would later "release," down to what would seem to be the actual level one setting. I have barely used the bike, maybe 20 times, and now the setting doesn't change at all. That's how things can go with new brands (despite the known corporate entity that also owns nordic track and proform). Thankfully, I got a 4 year protection plan. There are many bad reviews on the dick's sporting goods official website.

DO NOT BUY!!! Epic bikes break from any heavy use and trying to fix it and customer support is a nightmare. They company is now called Freemotion. I assume that they are just as bad.
