Not much substance but great to look at

Die Interviews sind hier und da recht kurzweilig und inspirierend. Eine große Enttäuschung aber die Tipps für die "unentbehrlichen" Klamotten weiter hinten im Buch. Die Hose - der Blazer - High Heels - und so weiter. Hier - wie auch an vielen anderen Stellen im Buch, geht es nicht um Stil, Farbe, Material, Schnitt oder Passform, sondern um Marken, Marken und Marken. Den hinteren Teil kann man so zusammenfassen: Mit Pumps von Weizmann, Rouge von Chanel, einem Mantel,von Burberry oder einer Hose von Jil Sander liegt man immer richtig. Nun gut, wenn mand as Budget hat und einen Monatslohmn für ein Kostüm ausgeben will ... Und dass eine Marke für guten Geschmack garantiert, ist ein Märchen! Und nicht jede Luxusmarke hat Qualität! Da brauch ich nur an die Daunenjacke von Calvin Klein denken, die allsbald auseinanderfiel oder die sündteuren Schuhe von Hugo Boss, die sich häßlich verfärbten, sobald man drin schwitzte ... Fazit: Kauf lohnt nicht! Enttäuschend.

I was hoping this book would explore more of the Garçonne style history and pull together its roots to a sensible modern look, but it's a bit more like a magazine-y, surface-y type look at garçonne style. The book's strength is that it interviews different women in their style and philosophies of fashion, but it's a bit redundant. The back of the book includes a style guide of recommended purchases to obtain the style. But I found it to be overall kind of shallow, bougie, and disappointing. I wouldn't purchase it again.

This is hands down the most relevant and intelligent book about style I've ever read. I especially love the many strong female role models, entrepreneurs and influencers featured and the highly concrete tips for where to shop. A instant classic.
