We've been using these magnets for years on our cat collars. They're easy to add to our cats break-away collars and I always keep extra for those times when one of our cats come home and its collar has been left behind some where. I also like that there is a designated front and back to the magnet. The electromagnetic cat doors are great combined with the collar magnet. Only your cat(s) can enter your dwelling and not someone else's cat. I highly recommend these magnets.

I bought this when I realized my poor cat was futilely banging his head on the cat door to get in because the magnet on his collar had disappeared and he couldn't trigger the door to open. This is a powerful little magnet, and is slightly smaller than a marble, so it is an acceptable size for my cat. Under no fault of the product, it tends to get caught up on anything else on the collar that is comprised of ferrous metals. This includes the collar itself, tags, or in my case, the buckle of the collar. Therefore, the magnet pretty much stays wound up on itself at the buckle. One should also be aware that if your pet rummages through things outside, it may come home with all kinds of crap stuck to its collar.Functionally, it works great with my Cat Mate electromagnetic door. The cat is also much happier now that he isn't trying to put his head through a wall to get in anymore!Lastly, it should be noted that the picture looks like a plastic coated magnet with a metallic strip on it. While the magnet *is* plastic coated, the strip is actually a white paper sticker that you can attach to the magnet. I'm guessing it was intended for a name or contact information. I have chosen not to use it.

I've ordered dozens of these over the years and thought it was time to review this product since they've always performed as advertised.I have a Solo automatic electronic pet door that both my cats and dogs use ( and which has been incredibly dependable). Unfortunately, the cats regularly lose their breakaway collars with the magnets attached, so I have to keep magnets "in stock" at home. I ordered the Solo replacement magnets for a while, but found them to be heavy and sometimes it appeared that the plastic-covered wiring would start to come apart and potentially injure the pet, so I switched to keeping these Cat Mate magnets in stock at home instead and they work just as well plus they are lighter and I haven't seen the same type of potential problem we noticed with the other magnets. We've even switched to using these on our dogs' collars.Reading other reviews, I see that some people are unhappy with the fact that these magnets dangle from the collars, but to open our pet door, it has to sense the magnet in motion, so it's not a problem for us.If you are using this type of door for cats, just know that you'll have to keep these magnets on order! We think they are well worth it.

Great price, much less expensive than buying at the pet store. Especially if you have 4 animals like we do. Works on our PetSafe pet door. The cats don't mind wearing the magnets - I bought small carabiner clips from Home Depot to attach them to the collars.I had actually tried to "make" my own magnets before I bought these, because 2 of my cats always seem to lose their collars. But it was a pain to try to attach them, get strong enough magnets for the door, and have them be small enough so the cats would tolerate them.These are about the size of an olive, in a plastic cage. They work great - you do have to check for stray "bling" as another reviewer said. I pulled a nail off my cat's magnet.If my cats lose them I'll order more. Price is good and delivery was fast.

I like this. It works well. However...Sometimes the magnet sticks to ferrous objects that the kitties brush up against. I have found them dragging around several different things that had attached themselves to the magnet. The poor kitties were very perplexed and a little distressed. They couldn't get the objects off by themselves. While someone is home at my house most of the time, this isn't a big deal for my kitties, but for kitties who are home alone a lot of the time, this could be a nuisance--if not a potential hazard--for the kitty.

Maybe I have a dumb cat but he had difficulty learning how to use the door. It might be better if the magnet was lower. However, if you put it too low the magnet picks up other metal objects too which might be irritating to the cat. You have to check the magnet frequently. If it wasn’t already installs, I might have spent more money on a different door system. Ok for the money.

Ideal for magnetic cat flap and cats who keep losing their collars!

Very good, better than the smaller pear drop and mice shaped ones you can get. For better performance I take off the metal triangle bit on the cats collar, else the magnet sticks to it and it doesn't dangle down, which is what you want to activate the cat flap well; and attach the magnets metal ring direct onto the collar in its place.

These work really well in catmate cat flaps. I had previously tried another magnet from a rival company. Cheaper than the catmate (which were out of stock at the time). They did work but the cat lost patience trying and bothered the neighbours instead. These work every time - recommended.
