Worked Great
We had just purchased several containers of plants and out of the blue, we going to get an unexpected freeze. I was worried as I had used covers before and the plants did well for a night and then suffered the following days. We brought the plants into the garage and used the cover. They were so great...the freeze lasted for over 3 days and then plants looked just as great as when we put them in the garage and covered them. The cover was great and worked better than I expected. Would recommend it to anyone that faces this type of issue!

Won't garden without it
I have used grow covers for years now and I wouldn't garden without it. It is great for protecting new seeds and young seedlings and extending the season. I have grown lettuce under grow cover and wouldn't grow it any other way. I have lettuce pretty much year round here in Northern California because of the grow cover. We had a deep freeze the first week of December 2009 and my lettuce kept on growing. In fact I never remove it from my lettuce beds as it reflects the heat of summer better than any shade cloth and we get over 100 degrees for most of July. I usually spray the cover with water during the heat of the day and it keeps my lettuce beds cool. I can also start my warm season seeds about a month earlier if they are covered with grow cover. And once the days get up to 85 degrees the cover comes off my beans, peppers and tomatoes. It does protect your crops from the birds, slugs and snails and other hungry critters. I use mine over hoops that I make with 1-inch drip tubing and have found if I use 2x4's to hold it down instead of poking holes in it to hold it to the ground, it last me several seasons. It's great stuff and worth the investment....

Pretty Good Protection
Winter has come early to Central Texas and I'm glad that I bought this row cover. I have covered up garden vegetables that are frost tolerant, anyway, but the growth difference between those that were covered and those that weren't is noticeable. Increased warmth resulted in increased growth and I'm glad to have some nice, fresh greens for my Christmas salad. An unexpected benefit has been that the rabbits are not comfortable with this fabric in the garden. When I had the vegetables covered, the rabbits stayed away. When the strong north wind blew the fabric away, they nailed my cabbage and kohlrabi. That leads me to my only criticism. I wish the fabric was a little stronger so that it wouldn't tear as easily as it did where I had it stapled to the ground. To be fair, the fabric failed in some really strong wind. Perhaps if I'd used more staples it would not have. The row cover isn't ruined and it is back in place, now. Still a disappointment, though.

It was great for grass please read my review
This was exactly what I thought it was. Better than hay because you can use it multiple times. It really helped out the grass seed that I layed down by keeping moisture, and heat in. While at the same time it kept bugs out which I mean bugs don’t really eat grass so I’m not sure if that helped in any way. I found it very helpful to be able to cut it into sizes that I needed. I cut it into multiple different stripes and patches and after I was down just hosed it down and rolled it up and threw it where it belonged, in the back of my car. The price to for what you get I thought was great.

For the birds
I grow fruit and veggies in my garden and found that the birds know just when the blueberries and strawberries are ready to be picked. They eat them before I can so I decided to cover the plants with this product and it worked perfectly. Great for frost protection as well.

Saved our garden
These row covers have been a life-saver-- they protect our young plants during early growth, and have helped keep bugs/birds/animals away from larger plants throughout the season. Because they're super lightweight, we can use them with and without hoops over the plants. They allow water to get through, and the plants we've covered have done really, really well. We had kale overwinter and continue to grow this spring after snow, and temperatures in the single digits. Will definitely continue to purchase as needed.

Worth the purchase
Already used it several times on cabbage. We put it on when the sun goes behind the trees, anchor it with bricks, making sure it isn't pressing down on the heads, and take it off again when the temperature goes above freezing. We picked two cabbage the other day and they had been nicely protected. I'm not sure what the other reviewers were talking about when complaining that it doesn't last. I've been using rough bricks to anchor and so far it hasn't torn once, and I've covered and uncovered at least 6 times. Even if it does eventually tear, it will have been worth the purchase.

Finally Got My Grass to Grow
Always had a problem with birds eating my seed, animals digging holes, over or under watering my new seed. This cover solved my problems. I used rocks to hold it in place. Animals actually walk around the cover. Birds won't land on it. Grass is actually growing. The grass grew though the cover in one area, but it was easy to remove. When we had our first frost, the grass was protected and kept growing. My only issue is the cover ripped in one corner. Maybe a branch landed on it. Not sure. I bought two more covers to do the rest of the yard.

Great results!
This is my first time using this type of germination fabric. I am impressed, so I did my own little test, covered one section with the fabric and one section without. Germination was very quick and after 8 days I saw my grass really sprouting! I recommend this product!

I consider this a must have if you want to grow grass
Throughout the past couple months, I have learned that there are many enemies when growing a lawn from scratch. Wind, rain erosion, weeds, extreme heat, and our favorite tree rat.. squirrels. Aside from squirrels that dig up your fertile soil every chance they get and eat all your seeds, I also faced the problem of rain erosion in which sloped areas were unable to grow anything. A whole month went by and nothing has grown in these areas. This led me to dig around forums for answers.Well, the forums led me to this product which I must say is an absolute necessity if you are trying to grow a lawn from scratch. Not only does it protect it from all the scenarios I mentioned, it also allows grass to grow at a much more rapid pace. In two weeks, I have grass long enough to be mowed. During these two weeks, squirrels have not ripped through the fabric (even though they technically could). The fine coffee filter like material prevented rain from moving the soil as water is trickled down at a slower rate. It also traps moisture so less water is needed when seeding. (You just need enough to wet the blanket) Weeds are unable to get through and wind is unable to move any seed around. It worked so well that I decided to get more for overseeding. To put things into perspective, between Aug 1 and 27, sections of the lawn remain dead with very little growth. No matter how much soil I put in and how much seeding I do, very little growth. Starting in Sep 6 on a test area with no grass, I had very nice growth by Sep 19. I began covering the entire lawn on Sep 19 for overseeding, and by Oct 5, the entire lawn was green. Finally, progress!I can't see many downsides to this product except maybe cost. This blanket costs quite a bit higher than something like a roll of burlap, which I found offers about the same protection and results at half the cost. But overall, I still much prefer the Dalen because it's thin and light and white! It doesn't weigh down on the new grasslings like wet burlap, and it allows sun to penetrate better than burlap because of its material and white color.Great Product! A++++

Great for frost damage protection and for seed germination.
Excellent purchase. I'm using to protect recently planted seeds from potential frost damage and to speed germination. Perfect fit for my garden.

Happy with the purchase
Good quality cover, lightweight, somewhat transparent. I used it in temperatures just below 0, it works well. For lower temperatures maybe will need to double or tripple the layer.

Very thin
These are as thin as it gets. I put them on ny lawn to protect it from salt and gravel in the winter. I’m not sure I will be able to re-use them next year...
