Waterproof wax for use in tough wet conditions. 80g tin. Leder-Gris Original is a mixture of 70% wax and 30% oil. It has been developed for everyday use in average UK conditions. The wax provides waterproofing; as it dries, it remains on or just below the surface. The oil goes deeper into the leather and helps to maintain the leather's suppleness by replacing leather oils lost during the drying out process. If leather oils are not replaced, then boots will be more likely to show signs of flex cracking earlier. Note: use of Leder-Gris may darken the colour of the leather. Directions: Apply with a brush and buff vigorously to drive the oils into the leather.

Legendary boot protection
I’ve been buying Altberg leder gris for over twenty years and for good reason. I wear Altberg boots for work for 10 hours plus each day in all weathers and over all terrains. I rely on good foot protection to keep me going, particularly in poor weather.Leder Gris is a first class product that provides an extra layer of waterproofing whilst conditioning the leather at the same time. Simple but genius. I reapply it about once a month to keep my boots in tip top condition. An 80g tin lasts me a year or more. The uppers on my boots never degrade and easily outlast the soles. I get about 3 years between re-soling but the uppers just keep going and going. My feet have NEVER got wet.I cannot recommend this stuff highly enough. (And if you have any of those fancy brand boots, ditch them and get Altbergs. There’s a very good reason why they’re the boot of choice for the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. You’ll never use another brand again).P.S. I don’t work for Altberg, just proud to support a great British brand.

Excellent wax polish purchased a grade 1 pair of alt-berg defenders a little knocked about; and fair play this polish has really given them a new lease of life. Ig has brought the deeper brown tone back filled alot of nicks some quiet deep, and has made them waterproof far beyond my expectations. It is not the high shine although it can be achieved with a little patience, particularly if you use the paste that accumulates at the base of the application brush and apply with your finger or fine cloth as a final coat. Overall this is the real deal and we'll worth the money, especially as this is the larger 80g tin and I've previously seen the 40g at almost the same price.

Great product
Hands down this is the best waterproofing wax/oil product for leather boots.Dont be put off that the skin of your boots may feel a bit tacky when you first apply the polish. Its designed to penetrate without softening the leather.Used this on a recent winter tour of the Falkland Islands where the ground is very sodden underfoot.Did a great job for hour after hour.Just remember to clean boots after use and then liberally re apply wax.

Brilliant!
I walk about 5 miles a day to and from work, always wearing my hikingboots when doing so. So obviously they get wet, muddy, gritty and end up looking horrible. Used another brand before but decided to give this a try and are brilliant. Boots has its old dark brown colour back and my feet stay dry.

Had to use most of the tin to properly treat my work boots
Didn't do a great job of keeping my boots waterproof until melting the whole tin and basically painting it on then brushing it in after it cooled. This has kept them relatively waterproof but pretty much used the whole tin in the process. I will be making my own in the future.

Effective product, good value
Great boot wax. Adds brown colour and increases water repellent quality of the leather. Bought it for Altberg Defender boots but now using it on other brown outdoor footwear . Will definitely continue to use this product

The best a boot can get
I was unable to get hold of this briefly, so tried Grangers. It is enough to say that as soon as this was back in stock, I grabbed two. Absolutely the best I have tried. It keeps my boots supple and my feet dry inside in the worst the English weather has to offer. I cannot fault it

miles better than Kiwi black shoe Polish and better than the ...
1st one was lost in post. I was in no rush so waited 3 weeks before reporting. 2nd tin arrived without quibble 1 -2 days after report. What more could you ask for? Top notch. Will buy again and asked about the boots to match the Altberg Polish. They do not sell sadly. Polished my well used Brown Altberg leather back to almost brand new in 10 mins after running out of the clear version and neglecting a while just using regular polish.Quality. miles better than Kiwi black shoe Polish and better than the clear version if treating in 1 step
