A mine of spiritual nourishment
I have read this book a number of times and with each reading I identify with a different part of Much-Afraid's journey. She sets of on a journey to the High Places with The Shepherd, accompanied by two companions to help her, Sorrow and Suffering. Along the way she is assaulted and waylaid by her relatives who are determined to try and prevent her from reaching the High Places - Self Pity, Pride, Resentment, Bitterness, Craven Fear... But she also has The Shepherd. This journey of growth and transformation is inspiring, deeply spiritual, uplifting and nourishing.I am not sure about the drawings in this illustrated edition, I was hoping for something that "spoke" to me in the same way the words did. They will appeal to a younger demographic. To quote the blurb at the start of this edition:There are no obstacles which our Savior’s love cannot overcome. The High Places of victory and union with Christ can be reached by learning to accept, day by day, the actual conditions and tests permitted by God, by laying down of our own will and accepting His. The lessons of accepting and triumphing over evil, of becoming acquainted with grief, and pain, and of finding them transformed into something incomparably precious; these are the lessons of the allegory in this book. The Lord God maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon mine High Places. Psalm 18:33 and Habakkuk 3:19I love reading this book and hope that more people will get the same enjoyment and spiritual fulfilment that I do on each reading.Highly recommended😊

And allegory that God has used in my life.
Hinds feet in High Places is allegory about a a young lady named Much Afraid and her journey with the Good Shepherd(Jesus). The Good Shepherd take Much Afraid on a journey and teachers her to die to self and self identity and to live for Him and others and to take on the identity of who He says she is. She starts the journey excited not expecting it to be all that hard but learns along the way that it is and she learns to die to herself and trust the Good Shepherd completely. As her continues the journey she comes to see and believe that the Good Shepherd is giving her a true identity and name but she has to complete this journey before she receives which she does and it is good. The Good Shepherd keeps all his promises

Makes me smile
One of my favourite books of all time. I have read it several times. Keep giving it away, so I have to buy it when I feel the urge to read it again, which is every couple of years. Hannah has the most gentle way of writing, I loathed the Fear family for the way they treated Much Afraid but then felt sadness and pity towards them at the end. Much Afraid's love for the Shepherd was overwhelming, It is the way I feel at the end of a book which determines whether I'll read it again and just reading the title makes me smile.

Hinds' feet on High Places
I found this book by accident and how glad I did, for I feel that I was meant to read it. It makes wonderful references to different events in the Bible that I could relate to. It is so expressive and understandable I just wanted to read more and more

Great encourager and shows Jesus is with us all the time.
It is an amazing book, initially difficult to get into as it is not the usual type but definately would recommend. I read the paper version. When I wanted to read again, I didnt have the book with me so purchased e-book. Jesus is always with us. So many ways I can relate myself to the book.

Brilliant and Inspiring
I am reading this book for the third time.It always inspires me and is so easy to read. I identify a lot with the character "Much Afraid". The story of how The Shepherd loves and transforms her thro her difficult journey is heart warming.Brilliant thing about Kindle you can highlight pieces and see just those bits. The sequel Mountains of Spices" is great to but not avaliable on Kindle.

Amazing read....A Must Read
I would thoroughly recommend this amazing classic to anyone starting off on their walk with Jesus. It's beautifully written and although I read this 30+ years ago I still find myself referring to it when describing certain situations in my life.Hannah Hurnard got it just right in my personal opinion!
