Works great and is easy to tune as long as you have a good app. The little pamphlet helps as well! I will say that the bag is made of a velvety material, so it attracts a lot of dust/pet hair.

So I have only heard very little about the Kalimba, let alone know anything about playing it. But when I saw this, it seemed like a fun thing to learn that wouldn't be wildly difficult. This item is great for people such as myself who haven't played it before and are just eager to learn something new. The Kalimba itself is the 17 note version as opposed to the 27 key one, which makes it a bit more simplified which is great. It also comes with the little tuning hammer and a couple thumb protectors for playing it, different colored stickers for the keys to assist you while you're learning it, and a small pamphlet that's also meant to help with the learning process. The pamphlet also comes with a few songs (I think 6 or 7) that the distributors thought would be manageable for beginners, and which actually include a few songs I would've chosen myself that I'm excited to learn. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because there is a slight lost-in-translation issue with the instructions/pamphlet that make it (for enlglish speakers) hard to understand, so I've had to go to YouTube for most of my tutelage. Other than that (& I do think that it's something across the board that sellers on Amazon need to really work on, ensuring that their translating instructions etc into other languages properly) it's a great package that shipped altogether with the instrument and the instrument itself looks like it good quality and in great condition. Perfect as a gift and great for people like me who just wanted to try something new and enjoy learning new things. I am very excited to continue to learn more with the Kalimba and I'm glad this was how my experience began with it.

After seeing a few videos of kalimba covers online, I thought I would pick one up for myself. Not to use in any professional manner, but just to try out. And after a few weeks of playing around with it for a few weeks, I've really come to enjoy using it.If you've ever had a piano lesson before or even have a cursory knowledge of music, you should take to the kalimba pretty easily. I have very minimal experience with an instrument like this and found myself playing simple songs and a few beginner cords after only an hour of messing around with it. Using a tuning app on my phone, almost all of the keys were in tune when I received it. The two that weren't were easily fixed with the included tuning hammer. One thing to mention is that there are no sharps and flats on this instrument, so the only way you could get them is by manually adjusting the keys with the hammer with some creative tuning. But none of this really matters for a beginner just looking to try a kalimba out for the first time.The kalimba is relatively well built, but the lighter pieces of wood that the steel keys rest on has some shavings coming off them. Nothing major, but still something to note. Everything else feels nice and solid. The device comes with some finger caps, which are a very nice addition, because the keys can dig into your fingers a little if you hit them wrong.Since getting the instrument, I've been playing a variety of simple songs: lullabies, classical songs, Disney movie songs, etc. And all of them have been really easy to learn and play. I would highly recommend checking some kalimba tab sites and some videos online to help you out in the beginning. But I've even taught myself some simple songs without using any tutorials. Now, I'm not saying I'm playing full solos and complex chords on this thing just yet, but I don't doubt that you could become decently proficient with this instrument with a little practice. I'm very happy with this little kalimba and plan on using it whenever I need to take a break from it all.

Fun way to make music, probably easier for people who have small hands and fingers. Tuning it is kind of tedious initially but after you have it tuned it’s easy enough to use.

I absolutely looooooove my new kalimba! The first song I learned after researching, the instrument was “Leaves on the Vine”.My partner is the one who tunes the instrument, since it seems a little daunting for me but it’s super easy to learn by watching YouTube videos and reading the template that comes with the instrument. We both definitely play fight over who’s going to be playing with the kalimba throughout the day…believe us it’s that fun.The instrument comes with a tuning guide, a tuning instrument and a link to videos, as well as a protective soft case for the kalimba. The kalimba is very good quality. It’s built correctly and doesn’t feel cheap in any way.I absolutely love playing this kalimba and learning new songs! I highly recommend buying it for yourself, or buying it for your friends and family; it’s suitable for any gift giving occasion.
