The Lighthouse at the World's End (The House at the Edge of Magic)

Delightful, amusing and imaginative.
I originally bought the first in the series for my young daughter, but I have enjoyed Nine's adventures every bit as much as her.Unlike some books aimed at preteens, it uses multi-syllablic words, as well as adjectives and adverbs to paint its fascinating world, but in a way that expands vocabulary rather than excludes novice readers. We found the plot was exciting and page turning, but delightfully empty of blood, gore and swearing.Whilst the uncontroversial message that being kind, especially to your siblings, brings happiness, is guaranteed to please everyone, whatever their political background! The ending is very satisfying, but leaves plenty of scope for further books...So if you are reading this Ms Sparks? Yes please!

good climax and many questions answered
Excellent finale to the series. I don't want to spoil anything for those who have read the first three books but many past characters reappear and I thoroughly enjoyed the ending. Hopefully there will be more about these characters in the future.

Brings everything to a close perfectly
The Lighthouse at the World’s End is the fourth and final book in the The House at the Edge of Magic series. If you haven’t read the previous books you really need to, to be able to fully understand this one as this isn’t a series you can dive into partway.Nine is heading back home with her friends in tow, and a witch who wants something from her, a magical golden locket. Nine knows that she can’t give the witch the locket as it is too powerful but she also knows that she has made a promise to her, one she can not get out of.With the help of her friends, Nine has a plan which includes travelling to the World Between Worlds and to the lighthouse on the Isle of Illusion. The Lighthouse at the World’s End is filled to the brim with adventure and excitement. There are some remarkable characters within the pages and the plot is so full and fast that young readers won’t want to put the book down. This middle-grade story is unusual, quirky, and strange but it is also fabulous and inspiring. Nine might have started life as a thief but she has grown so much with each book. This last book in the series brings everything to a close and ends perfectly without leaving the reader with questions. For young bookworms who want an enjoyable, witty, magical story this is the series to choose. They will not be disappointed.*I received a free copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed

I recommend this series to all children
Readers, teachers and librarians, from around the world, let me tell you all, I know you all will be in a dizzying trance, transfixed to the most enjoyable At The End worlds End series.Nine a young girl a remarkable pickpocket skilfully steals something from a bag that belonged to a witch. The witch with scarlet haired and scarlet fingernails appears in Nine’s bedroom at House at the Edge of Magic, calling her a thief. The witch is demanding that Nine must keep her side of the bargain and assist the witch.I personally would love to see a box set published of all the books in the series of At the World’s End!This excellent book goes above and beyond in the magical land of fantasy for all 9 years and up, it’s a real must buy, must read!

Fun and immersive all the way through
Another series comes to an end – this is the fourth in The House at the Edge of Magic series, and if you haven’t read the others, then this probably isn’t for you. Go back and start at the beginning. This is a fantasy tale set in the World between Worlds, in a house that travels, with our characters Nine, a pickpocket with a troubled past, Eric the Troll, and Flabberghast the Wizard. The story picks up from the end of the last novel, in which Nine comes to understand that bargaining with a witch perhaps isn’t the best idea.Well-written and paced and with compelling world-building, this is a good adventure story with originality, wit and, in this last in the series, a trip back to the mortal world in which Nine’s different lives come together. All in all, a series about belonging, that makes you grateful for the friends you have, and that total escapist literature such as this exists for our current nine-year-olds. Fun and immersive all the way through. With thanks to Walker for the ARC.

Love this series!
Awesome ending to a fabulous book series. My daughter really enjoyed these books. She said I should read them also since they are so well written and amusing . I didn't expect to love them so much and I look forward to sharing them with my grandchildren. A movie or show based on them would be so cool.

I devoured this book in almost one setting. it's as brilliant as the three books that came before this one.now I'm sad this (supposedly) was the last book in this series. a great sign for it being a wonderful ride, if you ask me.
