I wrote a damming review and gave 1 star BUT I WAS WRONG and it IS good!!
I already have one of these (bought it some time ago from John Lewis) and it is WONDERFUL - very clear to read and very easy to use. I one a few days agp and it would not work at all BUT DO READ ON BECAUSE IT IS FINE !!I wrote a review as follows: "The one which was delivered today DOES NOT WORK AT ALL............. BUT I was WRONG!! I had one of these before and I LOVED it, and when I got this one I could NOT GET IT TO WORK. However, I have now discovered that it has a (VERY difficult to find) on/off switch - SO NOW IT WORKS FINE. I should explain that the one I have had for several years does NOT have an on/off switch - so I did not know to look for one.

Quality not what it used to be
I've had two of these in the past and they were brilliant - good display and nice alarm sound. The display on our current one started going (the corner had started to separate, so display blanked unless you held the corner together), so I ordered another. Display didn't work at all. Sent it back and the replacement was exactly the same - blank display (even though timer and alarm worked OK). And the aluminium cover fell off! Quality seems to have gone right down from when I bought the first two.

Cheap Cheeps.
PROS:- A basic no frills timer that works and is easy to use... It cheeps at a modest volume after it has counted down. Not loud; it's ok for a small house but it is very pocketable and has a thin stand that folds out from behind if you need to take it with you while and stand it on a non magnetic surface while watching tv or waiting for the alarm as you are enjoying a drink in the garden.CONS:-It does not come with a battery and is very basic in design. Do not be fooled by the stainless steel appearence. It is poor quality plastic behind and flimsy at best. The on/off switch is very tiny and I question it's purpose... if the battery consumption is so high that it needs to be switched off, then I may have made a mistake in my purchase. I will be interested to see how long it lasts. My main concern is the rather weak magnet that just about holds it onto the fridge. I suspect this is the old quality control problem that so many Chinese products seem yet to have grasped. Even at just over £7, I don't think it is worth it, as it should at least come with an AAA battery. Note there is a space specifically designed for one in the blister packing. My advice, look elsewhere for if you are after quality. Stick with this if you want to risk a cheapy cheepy with a large display and prepared to buy the AAA battery it needs.IN A NUTSHELL...3 star plastic and 3 star volume = Cheap Cheeps.

A precise and accurate timer.
I've been using this timer for five months now and have no compliaints about it. It arrived on time and in good order and just needed the battery fitted to go. I didn't need to read the instructions since I bought one for one of my daughters from a department store and use it when I visit. Her's is still going fine after over a year and mine hasn't needed a new battery yet although I use it several times each day. I usually have mine set to seven minutes, which is the time I like my tea to brew, but setting other times is quick and easy. The beeper is loud enough to be heard in my bedroom from the kitchen through the lounge of my apartment. The magnet on the back is strong enough to hold it on a freezer or fridge door without slipping even when pressing the buttons, which are light to touch. Consistency and accuracy of timing is what appeals to my slightly obsessive mind which comes from my scientific background and I have them in this device. It beats the clockwork timers in this respect. I've had a number of clockwork timers which have all broken. I liked my novelty chicken timer but it fell to bits, so although this electronic timer is not such fun, at least it's still going.

Best kitchen timer I've ever bought, but that's not really saying much
This timer does what you want - you set the time, start it off, it beeps when the time is up.On my one the on-off switch (a much-praised feature) is of very poor quality, probably the mounting, which means it can take several goes to turn it off successfully.Nice that it runs on an AAA battery instead of button battery, and (if the switch behaves) I can turn it off for the vast majority of the time when I'm not using it.The magnet on the back doesn't seem to be quite powerful enough to hold it in place on any steel surface.Other reviewers have debated whether the beeper is loud enough to be useful. I've found it to be OK for my needs, and interestingly it sounds quiet in 'freestanding' mode but two or three times louder when I've attached it (with the magnet) to my metal bread bin. Perhaps its like the sound-board on a guitar? Anyway, that's my top tip to make it sound painfully loud!

low-quality item
I bought this because it looked identical to the one that has served well for many years. However, whereas my old one only needed you to press the buttons, this piece of poor-quality tat needs to be poked and prodded to register any input. Far worse is is the viewing angles. Unless you are looking absolutely square on, all you will see is 88:88, requiring you to walk to it and pick it up to see how long is left. Avoid.

however I will not buy these again the latest version is extremely difficult to read unless you hold the clock at a particular a
I have always bought these alarms for my bakery the reason was because they were clear simple and had a loud alarm, however I will not buy these again the latest version is extremely difficult to read unless you hold the clock at a particular angle and worse of all the new alarm is really quiet, why oh why change something that was perfect in the first place

Difficult to find on/off button
We couldn’t get the timer to work, so returned for a replacement. When the next didn’t work, I thought something odd was going on. On closer inspection, I felt a tiny bump on the bottom left. This turned out to be an on/off switch, which I hadn’t seen on the first one. It’s amazing a large number timer, for people who can’t see well, had such a tiny switch! I’ve shown it by a biro pen nib yo show the size! It’s nice and loud now we have got it going.

Not dependable
I wanted a portable kitchen timer with both minutes and seconds, and got this after seeing what looked the same on the Great British Baking Show. Once I put in a battery it took a few minutes to realize there was an on/off switch on the side, but once I turned it on the display was large and easy to read. Adding time was easy, but there was no way to shorten time without starting over. It also beeped while setting time, which I found annoying. I could have lived with all of that if it worked reliably, but it didn't. Whether the switch was on or off, or the battery was brand new or not, it wouldn't turn on every time I wanted to use it, a huge problem in the middle of cooking. I returned it.

Only 30 seconds ringtone
+ Big numbers+ Easy buttons- Will only ring for 30 seconds, if you miss it, it will be silent and whatever you are cooking will be burnt- The screen has to be in the right angle to be seen, very hard to see if not in the right angle

Screen not readable under more than 15 degree angle
The screen is not readable under more than approximately 15 degree angle. I have owned several timers and they did not have this problem.
