Squirrel proof bird feeder.
Good cage. Does the job, had to modify it to stop the magpies. No hook supplied, birds like it.

Well made cage that really works.
Well made and simple to fit, protects our fat ball feeder from the greedy Magpies and Squirrels so that they eat only the food that we provide for them and the little birds can feed undisturbed and safe from Cats.

Prevents Crows and Blackbirds reaching the food.
Like many others have said, it is packed with one half inside the other and is very difficult tp pull them apart. Instead of slowly trying to prise the two parts apart I just gave it a hard yank, which worked. When assembling it, the two pins on one half are quite hard to push into the pin-holes on the other half, but again, brute force did the trick. I had to bend each of the four clips slightly as I could tell that over time they would become loose. When assembled it is very long, I put a 6-port 14" seed feeder in and there was still lots of space in the cage. It was so long that a seagull was standing on the fence of my decking and tugging on it to make the seed fall out of the catching tray attached to the bottom of the seed feeder. However, with some wire cutters I managed to cut and fold about a quarter of the length of the cage underneath itself so it is now about three quarters of the original length, with the bird-seed feeder fitting perfectly. The seagull can now no longer reach it to tug on it. I've tried other caged feeders but either the blackbirds or the crows can reach the food. This one has kept both at bay, which is why I am giving it 4 stars, in spite of having to modify it (but that was solely due to my positioning of the cage, though) and it not being particularly pleasing on the eye.

Easy to assemble and it works against Magpies
Bought this cage to stop Magpies stealing food off of the tray feeder I have hanging up for smaller birds. The magpies terrorise the smaller birds then eat all the food in about 30 seconds.Having read the other reviews I was expecting to have a battle to unpack the cage and then clip the two halves together. However, it seems that the comments have been read and acted on as the two halves were separated by some tissue paper, making it really easy to pull them apart when unpacking. In addition, there are rods on one half and corresponding sleeves on the other half that ensures a perfect fit when assembled. The clips then hold it all together. So, very impressed with the design.Having put the cage up, the smaller birds (Robins, Tits, Goldfinches etc) easily fit through the gaps to reach the tray, and the magpies are only able to put their beaks through. Given the width of the tray feeder this does enable them to take things from the very edge, but that is just a reflection on the width of the tray making it close to the edge of the cage. The Magpies I was watching made a few attempts, didn't get much food and then gave up.One point to note is that the cage is very long, so I would be able to hang my XL seed feeder in it if I wanted to. If there had been an option to buy a shorter cage I would have done so, as the bottom half isn't needed for my application. But much better to have it too big, than too small.Overall, I'm really impressed with the design and over the moon that the cage protects the bird food. Although I'm not using the cage to stop squirrels, if the gaps are small enough to stop a magpie getting at the food, I can't imagine a squirrel would be able to.

Feeder cage
Worked well stopping starlings rapidly emptying all the feeders. Left one available for smaller birds to use. Also found that squirrels were coming down the hang rope and leaning in and eating the feed.

Perfect for Conqueror Seed Feeders
These squirrel cages are brilliant. I’ve been looking for something to go over my Conqueror feeders (from C J Wildlife) for ages because they don’t make a cage to fit. The feeders have a larger diameter tube and I these might fit. I have cut 2 of the wires in the top end and bent them out of the way so the tube can fit through and they are perfect. Keeps the squirrels off but all the little birds can get through. The holes are definitely big enough for little birds. My feeders are covered in blue tits, great tits , linnets, nut hatches and siskins.I’ve bought 3 now!! Very pleased.

Not quite squirrel proof but....
Now that we've had this up for a few weeks we can get a true evaluation of it and I'm happy to say that it does the job most of the time. Periodically one leaps up and swings on it to shake some seed to the ground but not much. This gadget undoubtedly saves on seed waste. Please note, it's heavy, quite bulky and of course expensive but will be worth it on seed cost. There are a few design issues to sort out but still worth 5 stars.

poorly constructed
Very poorly constructed, the two halves don't fit together properly so you can only use 2 of the clips instead of 4. and that leaves a gap between them. Also lots of hazardous sharp edges. Waste of money.
