OctagonStar Bluetooth 4.0 Uart Transceiver Module CC2541 Central Switching Compatible HM-10

This unit does NOT transmit or receive any Bluetooth signal. It is a clone that saves $.20 by leaving out a crystal. This would be no problem if the firmware used the on-chip frequency generator but it doesn't. It needs different firmware to work. Without this it is useless. I saw one other review that must have been posted by the seller because it says that it works perfectly. That is not possible.

Firstly: the pin arrangement on this is *not* the same as most 6 pin HM-10 breakouts, and if you try to slot it in as if it's compatible with most of them you'll subtly damage your board. Many people also get this confused with a similar board that can handle 5V logic; this one can't.But even if you don't do that, most of the serial commands simply return ERR (even AT returns an ERR) and many others appear to be buggy (e.g., AT+NAME? resets the name to null every time).Pretty disappointed with this. Clones don't have to be cheap and flimsy, but this one definitely is.

After power up it starts blinking, but Android and Mac doesn't see any bluetooth device.

Using with VESC + Android for checking on motor stats.Working perfectly on Android. Friend could not pair his iPhone with it, may be an isolated issue.
