Rebuild 2 valves with one kit
I'm handy, but not a plumber. I have 2 leaking toilet Hoover-A ballcocks and was planning on changing to a fill valve. Instead, I thought it would be fun to try to rebuild the ballcocks.I bought this kit for about $8, with the intention of only fixing 1 toilet. I have read that there is an Old vs New version of the Hoover-A ballcock. I don't know which. However, seeing 2 pair of rubber gasket things in the picture, I figured one would fit old, other new. However, they both look exactly the same, including the rubber gasket sizes.I only replaced the large rubber 'O" shaped thing (anti siphon?) and little plastic O Rings that attach to the cap. I re-used the screws, cap, and didn't change or re-surface the valve seat. Since the kit came with a pair of each, I rebuild both valves. I didn't use plumber silicone grease, but would have if I had any.Will see how long it lasts. Pretty happy right now.
