As always, superior cooking Info and recipes from Cooks Illustrated
This book is BIG! The price is really reasonable for the incredible amount of info. you get as well. I bought this for my college age son because he's learning how to cook but I learned a lot (as an experienced cook) as I was reading it as well. I've never seen a better, more complete cookbook for new cooks.

Throw out all your other cookbooks!
Having received 3 ATK books, I have fallen in love with cooking again. I learned so much in a very short amount of time. Images are 💯 % spot on. Crystal clear, beautiful and relative to topic being covered. I own 5 editions of Joy of Cooking. My JoC and ATK's complete a set of every cookbook I'll ever need. I will also find a Baking book and call it done! I can't be happier with my purchases..

Already learning a lot
Great book, clear directions and lots of info that’s very helpful. And a fun and enjoyable read too which is great for a cookbook

Wish I Would've Had This A Long Time Ago
I bought this cookbook to use as a cooking curriculum of sorts for my daughter's junior homeschool year. It's great for the basics and has some really good recipes! I had to teach myself the domestic arts in my early 20s and would've loved having something like this to start out with. I'm 33 now and this is still a valuable addition to my collection. When my daughter gets her first place, I'll send it off with her along with my own recipes and advice. Really great cookbook!

Not Just for Beginners - A New Favorite
I own several cookbooks from America's Test Kitchen. This is one of the best. Great pictures, great explanations, easy to read, very educational and informative. Everyone can learn from this book. It will soon have as many post-it notes as the other two of my favorites. Plan to give as a gift to new bride who is just learning, and to my sister who is a fabulous cook. Also comes with free 2-month online cooking school membership. I plan to take advantage of that in September. Highly recommend.

Excellent fundamentals book for beginners.
Gives step by step pictures for prepping different produce items, and making staple dishes. Has a decent mix of recipes that are basic, no frills options (roasted vegetables with simply oil, salt and pepper) and more complex preparations (flavorful cauliflower cakes with yogurt-herb sauce). If you want to go from beginner to amateur, this book will hold your hand. There is a follow up volume on advanced fundamentals available for purchase as well.

Very informative
I read the book straight through and learned a lot about the science of good cooking. Now I plan to cook my way through the book to cement my learning.
