Hot Rod Body and Chassis Builder's Guide (Motorbooks Workshop)

This book is perfect if you're getting into building your own hot rod or car. I started my first build this past winter and quickly realized there were a HUGE amount of decisions to make and I know very little about most of them. For someone like me, this book is perfect and makes for a solid starting point. If you've built a few cars, this book likely won't be all that helpful.This book DOES have some 'how to / project' components, which are definitely helpful. But, like everything, there's probably 5-10 ways to do any one thing and this won't cover them all in depth (but that's why they make more topic-specific books). I actually liked this about it; the book sets up a nice foundation for you to research more later. And if you're chomping at the bit, you could get started with this book. To that end, it really covers a comprehensive list of topics and I have learned a huge amount from this book. And it also feels 'up to date' with more recent pictures. Hot Rod Body and Chassis Builder's Guide (Motorbooks Workshop) I have built cars before but this will be my first street rod. This book went a long way acclimating me to the differences you can expect. It is one of the best if not number one on my list for recommendations. Good for the beginner or seasoned pro. It doesn't cover in depth everything you may run into building a rod but more than enough to get you going in the right direction and know what questions to ask along the way.

I am using this book to teach me terms and skills that I otherwise wouldn't know. I do have experience working on cars. This is my first year working on a hot rods at a shop. I am part of a group of guys working to build hot rods for a future club(hopefully soon). Now that I am building my own I needed to be well versed before I start to build. This is great for someone with some knowledge about cars.

Not much help to me, thought the frame section might include more info on traditional builds but frame had IFS. In the tools section, the text on air compressor regulator says plumbed with hard copper when line is threaded black iron pipe. Who proof-reads this stuff?

Great book. One of my top three books for hot rod chassis building. Excellent first book to purchase. Buy this & Boyd Coddington's Hot Rod Engines, Drivelines & Chassis and also Street Rodders Chassis & Suspensioun Handbook. These three are all you will need. They don't try to cover everything (chassis, drivelines, engines, body, interior, mock up, assembly) and the result is far more detail on chassis & body.

Another excellent book from the series. In a way beautifully illustrated. Plenty of technical data. Love reading it. Arrived on time well packaged. Great book to ad to the collection.
