Poor remote...
It plays dvds fine. However, the audio when hooked up to the TV is not independent from the TV. Volume doesn't work on the TV if it is off on the unit, which causes an echo effect. Also, I need a remote that works from across the room for this purpose, and this remote barely works when it's right next to the unit. Customer service from the seller is excellent, they responded to my return request very quickly.

Useless remote, prone to freezing, no accessible controls on the screen side when mounted
This seemed like a great buy. The reality was not practical.Pro's: - It comes with a free headrest mount for the DVD player. - The picture is fine when it is working. - It comes with a separate car charger and outlet charger - It technically has a remote (it only works when pointed directly at the side) - It rotates so that you can mount it in the headrest mount (It's just not easy to use that way) - It has a decent battery life - It remembers where you left off if you have to stop it for some reason (this is also bad because you have to watch all the way thru the credits before you can replay it. I couldn't find a way to restart from the beginning other than to rewind thru it all)Cons: - The video would suddenly lock up. When it locked up it sometimes jumped ahead when restarted so you missed alot. - It won't let you restart it from the beginning so you have to watch all the credits before replaying the DVD - The remote is essentially useless. It only works if pointed directly at it from the side. So if your child is too young to use the remote properly themselves you can't use it to help them - It doesn't have frequently used buttons on the screen side to be able to play, pause, and adjust the volume when it is mounted on the headrest. You either have to have the remote handy and directly pointed at the side of the player or you have to pull the player out of the headrest mount to be able to do these basic functions. - The car charger doesn't have a long enough cord for when you have the DVD player mounted on the rear passenger headrest. You can't switch the cord out with a longer one because it's the fixed type. - There is no way to make it forget where you left off and just restart it from the beginning. So you have to watch all of the credits or switch out DVDsAfter having to repeatedly stop the car to fix the player, I returned it. I ended up purchasing the Wonnie DVD player. It doesn't come with a headrest mount, but it is much more functional and it comes with original innocent old style games and two gaming controllers

Terrible customer service. Broken in 6 months.
UPDATE: AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF BACK AND FORTH EMAILS WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE, THEY FINALLY FOLLOWED WITH THEIR WARRANTY AND SENT ME A REPLACEMENT.At first the DVD player worked great. 6 months later it has stopped working completely and I have been emailing daily for a week the company, but yet they keep emailing me back saying they aren't receiving my emails and won't honor their warranty. It's ridiculous. Why so many hoops for a warranty. I wouldn't waste my money with this company because they don't honor their warranty. Their customer service is horrible.

Great purchase for seniors
With my uncle being 83 he is not in the business of learning new gadgets. He is not able to set up the television to watch a dvd. He loves the portableDVD player and refuses to take it outside for fear of losing it. Even if he doesn’t watch a dvd longer than 15 minutes he seems happy when he randomly comes in and is able to work it without getting frustrated or having to ask for help. Even though he keeps the volume to loud when I’m reading I think this was a great investment that allows him to do him and maintain levels of autonomy
