The Sinking Of Ins Khukri - Survivor's Stories

An excellent book. Well written in simple language.
An excellent book. It explains the background of the Indian Navy in the 1965 war followed by their involvement in the 1971 war. The sequence of events leading to the sinking of INS Khukri is well covered including the heart wrenching stories of the survivors or their families. I also thought the analysis of the poor planning to engage Khukri and Kirpan into the search and destroy operation of the Pakistani submarine is also quite accurate.

On the tragedy of the sinking of INS Khukri
This book is a window to the sinking of INS Khukri in the 1971 India-Pakistan war. General Cardozo is a gifted writer and has vividly sketched out how the Indian Navy operates and how INS Khukri met its fate. The reader realizes how fate operates. A ship that takes precaution against a submarine is sunk while another ship that has no idea that it is being targeted by a submarine survives unscathed. I loved reading the book and strongly endorse the book.

An interesting read
Definitely worth reading. Ian Cardozo, the author, who himself is an army veteran who played an important role in the 1971 war with Pakistan has given a fair description of Indian Navy's role in this war while explaining what led to the sinking of INS Kukhri, and a glimpse into the survivors of this episode.

Simply Unputdounable
Major Gen Ian Cardoza gives an excellent view of the thinking of the Indian Navy commanders, Sailors, Relations and politicians right from 1965 till 2015. I must congratulate for writing such a brilliant account. The book was so gripping that I finished it in 24 Hrs having read every line and making notes.

Worth Reading. Strongly recommend
Maj. Gen Ian Cardoza has done brilliant work in bringing out such an in-depth study on what happened on a fateful day. The book has very impartially put up so descriptively what happened with the survivors from both sides. I strongly recommend this book.
