Kalima wa Nagham: A Textbook for Teaching Arabic, Volume 1

I absolutely love this book! I had to purchase it for my Arabic 101 and 102 class and it has greatly helped me in my process of learning Arabic. It also helps that my teacher is one of the co-authors. Not only does it include standard and formal Arabic, but includes many different dialects and colloquial phrases. It includes many cultural practices and traditions. The exercises included are very helpful especially when it came time for tests and exams. As a student who had never been exposed to any Arabic before taking this class, this workbook has been a great introduction into this beautiful language.

Not only is the learning easy and it follows a logical path, the cultural tidbits with advertisement pictures of arabic text in commercial locations, and other pieces of info of daily life in arabic speaking countries helps tie the book to real life uses, and it is just a great study book.I can recommend!

If you want to learn Arabic, then this is the book to go. Love how musicals, calligraphy, culture, listening, everything well organized and added logically. The audio-video componenet is free and available on the UT site.Get it and you will not regret it!

I really like this book.... It has great flow. I tried al kitaab at University which Im sure is a great learning resource but couldn't stay motivated ... I recommend taking your time and not glossing over anything. Write when prompted to write and listen to everything and I think you'll see good results. I just pre ordered the second book due in a few months. Good luck

Audio files and songs accompany this book to assist with listening and memorization. With the way that this book is formatted, one can easily follow along in a most promising way that ensures quick and effective learning. With this book, one will learn the Arabic language as well as many aspects of the Arab world and its wonderful cultures. I highly recommend this book!الحمد لله

When I first started learning Arabic, I was overwhelmed with how completely different it was from the English language. From learning a whole new alphabet, reading right to left, and learning fun cultural expressions, this book made learning the fundamentals of Arabic and vocabulary a lot easier than I previously thought. Definitely recommend to anyone who doesn't think Arabic is possible to learn - this book will change your mind!

This textbook is very helpful as an introduction to the Arabic language. The book especially does a good job at introducing the characters of the Arabic alphabet. It also includes vocabulary that pertains to everyday life, and then that vocabulary is reinforced through listening and reading simple stories. That being said, it is a a great introduction to new learners and I cannot wait for volume 2 to be published!
