Purchased it for a deterrent seems to be working very realistic looking siz, shape and color!

There is no doubt that this is a beautiful lifelike decoy. I catch myself doing a double take when I look out to the pond. If you want it for show, it's unbelievably realistic - if you're hoping it will scare away other herons, it will not. I've only had it since yesterday, and I'm still running outside to chase away the big blues. I had one standing just 5 ft from this one with zero regard. Hopefully, the swans will do the trick, they're on the way. ::fingers crossed::

I like it. I put it on the same spot that the real Blue Heron landed. Very lifelike but not as scary as seeing the real thing there. lol

Received this about a week ago. Looks very realistic - makes me do a double-take, thinking it is a real bird. However, this afternoon, a real bird landed next to it and walked right past it, as you can see in the photo. Can you tell which one is real?

For about 8 weeks, a Blue Heron has been stalking our pond regularly. Since placing the decoy, we've seen him at the pond behind our property but not back at ours until this morning. It appears to have landed to check out the decoy but it didn't get any closer than 20 feet before it flew off. It's mating season and it may have landed to check out the new Hottie. I move the decoy at least once every day hoping to fool the real thing. Time will tell if it really works.UPDATE: Decoy didn't deter the real thing unfortunately. The glutton was back again this morning fishing my pond and wasn't concerned about the decoy.

Put this decoy out. Changed positions every day and still caught a giant heron back in my koi pond

Ordered this guy (gal?) after a Great Blue snatched three medium-size goldfish from my pond. Also built a heron shelter (roof visible just beyond lily pads in foreground), so between that and the very lifelike Mr. (Ms.?) Heron, remaining fish remain safe, so far. Thanks, Pond Guy!BTW, per your instructions, I've been moving the heron around every couple of days. If you had an ambulatory version, that would be even better. Six stars at least.

The decoy seems to work since we haven't had any blue heron problems. The dissatisfaction with this product is that the paint is already peeling after one season (purchased April 2020). This must be a quality control issue. For the price, I expected higher quality and many seasons of use.
