ELK TRG1640 AC Transformer 16.5VAC, 45 VA

This is exactly what I was looking for. I used to have a wired doorbell in my home; however, the wires had been cut prior to buying the home and I could not find out where the original chime had been in my home. I did not want to have to pull out all of the old wires and fish new wires through my walls, ceiling, and floor so I bought this to give it a try.I have a Ring Video Doorbell that I wanted to setup as wired vs battery powered. I purchased a cheap $12.00 doorbell kit from my local hardware store and took the chime out of the box. I wired new doorbell wire from this transformer to the chime and to the Video Doorbell. I then plugged the transformer into an outlet that I have mounted on my ceiling in the basement and like magic, it worked! The outlet mounted on my ceiling in the basement is only a few feet away from my front door and where I want to mount my video doorbell.Using the original hole outside my front door where a previous doorbell used to be, I began fishing the doorbell wire through it. I then came inside the house, put a small hole in the wall to allow me to see the wire and also drill a hole through the floor to my basement. I fished the wire down to the basement and reconnected it to the transformer. I mounted the doorbell chime a couple feet away from the transformer onto the ceiling in the basement because I have no use for the actual chime itself. I patched up the small hole on the inside of the house and reconnected my video doorbell to the outside of the house and I have yet to experience any problems! This is a great solution that saved me a lot of time of trying to fish wire several feet across my basement to my old transformer mounted to a light box. The transformer works perfectly in the outlet and comes with a screw to secure it to the actual outlet. I highly recommend this transformer if you're looking for an easier powered alternative.

Have had this power supply installed for 16 months to replace a 20 year old supply. This supply is of a higher wattage thus allowing it to run cooler.The suppl has been functioning properly

My old transformer was quite a bit larger and the plastic had browned from overheating. Replaced it in my system and it takes up less space, does not get as warm and appears to be designed (if not built) in the US with a valid Underwriters Laboratory certification vs the Chinese crap that is listed elsewhere.

Purchased this after having a transformer go on a sump pump backup system. This was the exact transformer that needed replacing and is exactly like the old one. Reconnected and reinstalled and saved money over having to replace an entire setup. Helpful that it also has a little green indicator light so I know it is getting power.

Very substantial transformer. It is rated for 45VAC which by my calculation can be up to 1.6 Amp. My security box only draws .87 Amp I understand that current may vary depending on the load, such as battery charging so it has more that enough capacity.The unit appearance is flawlwess. It took 15 min to install and works without any problems. I am very glad about this purchase. Both the unit itself and its vendor are highly recommended.

takes up most of the space in a receptacle so not much else can plug in to the same receptacle. Should have an AC cord so the transformer is not right at the plugin.

Good replacement for old style transformer. Has a power light which helps

Replaced my 20 years old Pittway with this ELk TRG 1640 transformer on my DSC alarm system. The no-load output is 17.5 VAC. Like the green power on led and Auto-Resetting (PTC) features. Wish it lasts as long as my old Pittway transformer.

This works well with DSC 1832 alarm system.
