Great dog food. Works for us.
I bought this food because my regular dog food changed their formula and both my dogs broke out. I chose this food because it had 4.5 stars on Dog Food Advisor and has had no recalls since 2009 when Dog Food Advisor started keeping track of recalls.I have tried both this chicken version and the fish version. Both my dogs really like it and are doing very well on it. Their skin issues cleared right up. This food is high in fiber at 5.7%, so transitioning is important. With all that fiber, it has helped the anal gland issues my dogs were having. Also, just an FYI, this kibble is really small. So if you have a food gobbler, I would definitely water the food down. The fish version has larger kibble size, but it's still kind of small if you have a big dog. I see that there are a bunch of negative reviews on this food from different pet boards. The issues seem to be with dealing with the company rather than the food itself. I have been using it for about 3 months and have had no issues with the food whatsoever. And since I buy from Amazon or Chewy, both reputable companies, I know if I have a problem they'll take care of it and I don't have to deal with the company.

Seems to be doing good for my dogs who have alot of allergies
seems to do well with my pets they have a lot of allergies including fish and they have no luck with any of the probiotics I have tried but this says it has probiotics and they have done good on it so far. They have more bowel movements than they have ever had and they are all completely normal, no runny stool or constipation (which we did experience with the raw/ on top of the constant worry they may be subjected to listeria and such that could hurt them and go $$ broke doing it) I soak the food so that they get more water in their diet as they say that dogs who eat a dry food diet are normally at least slightly dehydrated. I don't give them any treats really as they do have so many sensitivities and I believe it said not to mix this with other foods as it is the alkaline based diet. so I feed them pcs of this food dry as a crunchy treat between meals which also helps with plaque. My dogs have issues even with multi-vitamins so if you are feeding a multi vitamin and your dog is having reactions you may want to see if the multi vitamin is causing it as well, one of my dogs cant handle glutamine and no condroitin due to fish aspect and I am in the process of trying straight up msm because he has a bad knee and needs some kind of support, food didnt do anything for that. They both seem to really like this food and I have recently switched to duck with no 50/50 blend just straight up switch and no issues- which is a major war normally. They are gaining more weight with the duck than the venison at the same amount of food so I will have to adjust that accordingly. My dogs had previously been on biljac and i found out that one of their preservatives had cancer causing agents in it so I was on the hunt for something they could tolerate it took forever to find the biljac- it is near impossible to find food with no fish oil or flax seed in it. I wish they would sell canine caviar at Pet Smart so I could buy it locally all of the pet stores near me cannot get it. Just be aware that the price online fluctuates in extreme measures constantly so be prepared to adjust your budget each time you buy it.I also read recently that if you have to use dry you should keep it refridgerated or frozen and try to use it within a month so the nutrients are still able to be beneficial to them. So I buy the smaller bags when possible.

My dogs eat it!
I have three small dogs, different breeds. It has been super challenging to find a food that all three would eat. I have gone through numerous brands - grain free, with grains, slow cooked and what not. This one is a keeper! I do mix in a tablespoon of wet food as a topper, but they all clean out their bowls with this food. They seem quite healthy with a shiny coat. There are limited ingredients in the food which has helped my dogs with healthy digestion. So far so good!

Best Dog Food Ever
Update: Still going strong two years later. It’s the only food I feed my dogs now and the fluffier ones have even lost weight on this one. I now use lamb stew meat instead of chicken (the world’s most perfect chihuahua is allergic to chicken) to make the broth. She still eats it and loves it. (The other dogs are dachshunds and eat anything, so they aren’t good indicators of doggy fine dining.)I’m going to start off by saying my fur baby (Chihuahua) is a VERY picky eater, is 8 years old, and suffers from GI issues and allergies. I have tried every dog food easily available on the market and none of them have been successful. For the past 3 years, I’ve been making her food (grain free), but I think it’s making her allergies (and maybe her overall health) worse.Enter Canine Caviar. In 3 days, my dog has changed drastically. She SCARFS down her food and licks the plate clean. This dog has always maintained her weight - 8.6 lbs, give or take 5 oz - on her own. She is not food-motivated. Now she’s begging me to feed her. She LOVES this stuff. She’s stopped scratching. She’s playing with her rambunctious younger fur sister. She just seems healthier and happier than she has in years. (Fingers crossed it isn’t coincidence.)So I will say I made some modifications to this. The food is a bit hard for her to chew. The instructions say you can add water, but this is my baby, so water isn’t good enough. :)I made my own homemade chicken broth using an organic, cage-free chicken, organic carrots, and organic celery and distilled water (city water where I love is nasty). Nothing else. No salt, seasonings, nothing. Once it was cooked, I blended the carrots and celery into the broth and use the broth to soften the food. She LOVES it. Is my baby spoiled? Yes. Is she the world’s most awesome Chihuahua? Yes. Does she deserve the best food, even if it takes more time? A resounding YES!If you purchase this and your dog doesn’t like it, try some chicken broth (if they can tolerate chicken) to see if it helps. If not, send it to me. :)

Effective alkaline-based food for special needs dogs
I would recommend Canine Caviar for anyone who has an older dog or one with special needs. A healthy diet can sometimes be the answer or at least help a lot, and based mainly on chicken and brown rice, this alkaline-based brand is well formulated to give to good balance of nutrients, gluten-free and no additives. It's definitely a bit on the expensive side, but this could be a great help and well worth it if you've tried everything else.

Highly recommended - great quality and a picky little eater loved it with NO tear stains
I'm extremely impressed with this. it really does have some quality ingredients and supplements and no cheap fillers. I have a pure white Bichon Frise who, the moment she eats anything with beet pulp in, gets tear stains. (those unsightly pinky/purple streaks down their face). It's actually much harder than you think to get dog food without inexpensive fillers in. Beet pulp allegedly provides bulk and fibre cheaply whilst not harming the dog - but if you have a white dog it's pretty obvious that it's all-pervading in the dog's system as their eyes, face and sometimes paws become discoloured quite quickly. It also seems to make mine itchy generally. So I was delighted to see that this doesn't contain any!My 5-year-old dog has been eating Lily's Kitchen the British organic brand kibble for the last 4 years and is happy with it. She's refused most other brands that I have tried her with. Unusually for a dog (so much more of a cat trait to go on hunger strike in my experience!), She will simply refuse to eat if something doesn't meet with her approval. Her approval of this started when the driver delivered it. He put the large heavy box in the hall for me and I went to take a shower. When I came out my small dog had virtually dismantled the huge box with teeth and claws. I was startled as she isn't a destructive dog usually! She gave me one of those patented "But it's for me!" looks. I opened it and gave her a small bowl - which she wolfed down. Instant Success and most unusual. She's been eating it happily ever since and I'm delighted. From an owner's perspective, although it isn't cheap - In fact ... per kilo it *IS* cheaper than her usual Lily's Kitchen Organic kibble.A couple of other positive little things (especially if you have a small dog too) is that this kibble is really small - perfect for little mouths. Also the bag has a super-sensible easy-open, resealable slit in the side so if you put it in the correct place you won't have to move it again to decant food.I don't have any negatives I think we just changed her food for life.
