If you're not going to make your own dashi, complete with bonito flakes and kombu, this is a worthwhile short cut! I add it to chicken stock, dissolve it in water and beat it into eggs, or make instant miso taste like the real thing. It's a bit expensive in the store - and just remember to store it in the refrigerator.Great stuff -

If you're in a pinch of time and need something that closely resembles authentic dashi stock, this is your best choice. Just add a teaspoon or two to any broth to instantly add flavour. Mine will expire 4 months from purchase date, so keep that in mind.

Without a doubt, this is the best Hondashi soup style! Easily dissolves, excellent bonito flavoring. I use this in nearly all my Japanese Recipes.

I purchased this seasoning in mid-September. Imagine my surprise when it arrived a few days later with a December expiration date. This stuff usually lasts a long time. I am not happy that it is not returnable. What a waste of money to purchase ajinomoto that will expire in less than 3 months.

I have used this product to make miso soup since I learned the recipe when we lived in Japan: 40 years ago! It's the best of all the same product I have tried.
