These are well made of good quality material with a soft black felt inner layer next to the glass and outside layer of silver maybe Mylar that repells water and snow. The last two weekends we have had major storms with blizzard condition and 7.5" of snow that started with wet rain/snow and the covers worked beautifully on my Forester and Ranger. I did have to scrape a small corner where 50 mph winds drove a little moisture in. These covers stayed in place in a blizzard and were so simple to put on even in the wind by first putting strap over mirror on the upwind side then close the door. The other side is no problem when the first side is in place. They made an unpleasant chore easier with much less ice scrapping.
