The Plant Lover's Guide to... always an excellent series!
Nice reference book. Good pictures. Suggestions of use and cultivation. The other titles of this collection I gave 5 stars. I guess this book could have more interesting pictures. Although it can be easily recomended.

This is a wonderful survey of the subject.
I bought a copy as a gift and was so impressed with the the book that I'll see about getting a copy for my birthday. This is a beautiful, well-crafted book by an acknowledged expert on ferns whose love of the subject matter adds to the experience.

Great for a sketch reference.
This is a reference book for me to use for sketches and etching on glass. Not so practical from a gardening standpoint unless you're in the UK or you're in a floodplain.

Further study/information on ferns.
Beginner on fern study. One of the authors was a guest speaker at a program attended. Wanted the book.

American not British commentary
I love the pictures which are informative and clear with good practical info on selecting and growing ferns in the garden, but I would have liked the inclusion of specific soil and light requirements for each fern. Slightly frustratingly the commentry is orientated to an American reader, so annecdotes, weather, zones etc were not so relevant to me in England. I thought that Kew would mean it was like buying an RHS book.... still useful and a pleasure to read!
