Jaws not tight.
This stitching pony would be ideal if the jaws were tighter. If you are saddle stitching(not stitching a saddle)then you want your leather to stay in place without moving.Unfortunately, these jaws do not clamp tight enough, hence the one star as it was a complete waste of money.I do use a proper saddlers clamp and sit on a high stool so I think I,ll stick to that.

Doesn’t clamp tight enough
Sadly this was very short lived. Worked great for a couple of days, then ultimately stopped holding the leather. Despite trying to tighten the bolts, the actual clamp arms are very loose, and keeps swivelling at the base. Have now resorted to using my knees!

It works well, but it's not quite the item in the description/photos
The description clearly states "...made of high quality of beech...". If this is beech, it's unusually soft/low density for beech (source: I used to work as a carpenter and furniture maker). If I'm honest, I don't think it's beech at all (though it is relatively defect free, which is nice). In fact, the item shown in the images is several different items, none of which exactly match the item sent. If I had to guess, I'd say that they are what this item is attempting to mimic. The construction is so-so (see photos). It functions fairly well, but I don't expect it to last particularly long. Slightly disappointed in the oxidised hardware. It's a bit fiddly to put together, but most people will manage it fine (I do think the wing nut was an interesting choice).Having said all that, I think that while it lasts it will do a decent job. The option to either sit on the foot or to clamp it to a surface makes it versatile in use. It does clamp with a decent force, and the soft leather face means you are less likely to mark the item you are working on. If you need to you can adjust the depth of the screw in the end of the clamp which allows you to modify it for different thicknesses. So, it does work well, but it's not quite the item in the description/photos

Nice enough but it's not made of Beech.
This arrives boxed in a plain brown cardboard box sized 36cm x 11cm x 7cm.It would be easy to wrap if you were giving it as a gift.It arrives partially assembled & you need to add the base onto it yourself. They have placed the wingnut in a weird place so it's probably easiest to grip it with a pair of pliers then screw the screw into it keeping the nut in a fixed position rather than trying to get your fingers in there. This is a nice enough jig to use when working with leather although not particularly well made, but it is definitely not made of Beech. It does the job & it saved me the time it would have taken to make one for myself.

1 minor complaint
arrived with some very minor damage however the biggest annoyance was how short the bolt was. makes assembly more fiddly than it needs to be.that aside it works very well. holds reasonably firm and is comfortable to work with
